Bartzella is a truly special Itoh peony, producing large, fully double butter-yellow blooms with soft touches of raspberry at the center. The flowers are beautifully fragrant and held on strong stems above lush green foliage.
An Itoh peony combines some of the best qualities of both herbaceous and tree peonies — the perennial habit of a traditional peony with strong stems, vigorous growth and exceptional flowers.
Bartzella has become one of my favorite peonies for our Southern garden and is a wonderful choice for gardeners who may have thought peonies were only for colder climates.
What to expect:

For our Southern climate: Plant in late November-December. Plant shallow with the eyes near the soil surface. Proper planting depth is especially important for peonies in warmer climates.
